Notes & Reviews:

Sergiu Celibidache (1912-1996) has been called a "musical giant", a "magician" "a brilliant lion-tamer" and an enfant terrible of classical music. He was a legend in his own lifetime, mesmerising orchestras audiences and critics with his intensity and brilliance. Celibidache himself claimed that not a single French conductor was capable of conducting French music, and true, probably no one has ever performed these works with comparable perfection. This late live recording with the Munich Philharmonic, recorded two years before his death at the Cologne Music Triennale, gives us a special opportunity to witness how thoroughly he allowed his musicians to immerse themselves in the haunting works of Debussy and Ravel.

Ritmo
The development of this PrTlude is extreme delicacy, as large as possible, everything is secured by a strong harmonic construction air, which has some real moments of ecstasy sound, as in the orchestral climax, which reaches an ecstatic state, floating in his beauty on a dense rhythm of the flute, always present, as if the spell may dissolve as soon as she disappeared from the scene. We know that most of the Munich Celibidache is an experience in which music and mysticism go hand in hand in search of absolute beauty. The Prelude, 1994, is also among the largest of the interpretations of this unique combination.
