Album Summary
Performer
Dawn Upshaw (Soprano)
Notes & Reviews:
This Symphony's inspiration came from a book Gorecki found during the Nazi occupation of Poland that showed examples of the different messages scratched on the walls of a Gestapo prison. One message was written by a young girl that said, "Mama, don't cry." This was a very simple, but heartfelt cry that scorched his soul.
