Verbier Festival Highlights 2007 / Martha Argerich, Renaud Capucon, Nelson Freire, Helene Grimaud, Evgeny Kissin, more [DVD]

Notes & Reviews:

The Verbier Festival, created in 1994, has rapidly acquired a reputation for artistic excellence and is now considered one of the major European music festivals. For a fortnight each summer, the greatest stars of the classical music world come together against the magical backdrop of the Swiss Alps. The Verbier Festival gives musicians the opportunity to perform original programmes with fellow musicians they admire, but with whom they may never have performed before. These world premiere performances produce innovative and exciting results, for artists and audiences. In 2007, for the first time, all 46 concerts were recorded and DVD viewers can now relive the 14th edition of the Verbier Festival. The state-of-art recordings featured two cameras on stage that were remote-controlled so as to not disturb the audiences and artists and one camera in the midst of the audience to recreate the viewer’s perspective. Medici Arts assembled on this DVD excerpts of the most remarkable of the concerts. Lovers of classical music will very much enjoy this summit of high-profile artists!
