Notes & Reviews:
Andrew Millington is one of England's most senior and experienced Cathedral musicians and is director of music at Exeter Cathedral. This DVD of his organ recital on the grand organ in the cathedral shows off the organ to best advantage.
American Record Guide, January/February 2013
Millington, organist at Exeter since 1999, is a veteran artist whose past positions include many of the best known English cathedrals. His program is primarily mainstream classical pieces, except the jaunty closer. The organ is a 4-69 stop Harrison & Harrison (1931,1965). A renovation is scheduled for the next few years. Millington's performance style is classic as well - a minimum of movement on the manuals and pedalboard. Priory's box includes both a CD of the program and a DVD filmed in the organ loft. There are bonuses as well. They include a history and short performance on the Box Organ, a four-stop Positif used for early music and accompaniments. The photography is excellent, and the shots of the interior would be perfect for Architecture classes. The organ performance is certainly satisfying if without much drama or excitement.
