Notes & Reviews:
In 1999 Sasha Waltz started working on her three-piece choreographic cycle on the subject of the human body, building the trilogy off of exhaustive research. In the first, Körper, she investigates the anatomy and physical aspect of the human being, relating her dancers' bodies to architecture, science, and history in turn. The dance analyzes themes like morality and the quest for immortality, asks questions about the very being of the body, observes them in rhythm and motion and stillness, turns 13 bodies into a series of tableaux vivants.
