Notes & Reviews:

Joined here by clarinetist Pascal Moraguès, the Prazák Quartet performs three chamber masterpieces for the clarinet. The first two works, composed by Mozart and dedicated to fellow mason Anton Stadler, are the famous Kegelstatt-Trio and Clarinet Quintet. The trio was said to have been written in no more time than it took to play a game of skittles, and the Clarinet Quintet is one of the most beautiful works ever written by the composer. The disc is completed by Weber's Clarinet Quintet, which was dedicated to German soloist and composer Heinrich Josef Bärmann.
