Notes & Reviews:

This album in our Lydia Mordkovitch Tribute features her famous 1989 recording of Shostakovich's violin concertos with Neeme Järvi and the Scottish National Orchestra. Lydia Mordkovitch was one of the founding artists of Chandos and over the years made more than sixty CDs. Her native Russia was strongly represented in her repertoire, as exemplified in her 'mesmerizing and intense' performances of Shostakovich (The Telegraph's obituary), heard to special effect in this album recorded at Glasgow City Hall and awarded in 1990 (Gramophone Award ).
