Album Remarks & Appraisals:
One of Michael Villmow's main motivations in establishing a big band was to do something different, something "new." Part of a generation socialized by rock music, his vision of jazz included blues, pop, and fusion. He was looking for like-minded people for his KBB: young musicians considerate of both the traditional big-band approach as well as the more liberal, experimental aesthetics of the Jazzhaus- Initiative. The list of KBB members from 1984 - 1995 amounts to a "who's who" of the Cologne jazz scene, which was - and still remains - a stepping stone for national and international careers.
Available on double CD or double vinyl (with digital download code). Features saxophonist Bendik Hofseth, who replaced Michael Brecker in the band Steps Ahead in 1987. Includes Chad Wackerman, percussionist for Frank Zappa and sidekick to guitarist Allan Holdsworth.
