Notes & Reviews:

This album is part of a series of twenty must-have titles from the Warner Classics catalog, featuring their original and well-known iconic covers. In his nine Bachianas Brasileiras, written between 1930 and 1945, Heitor Villa-Lobos sought to fuse the soul of his native Brazil with the spirit of Johann Sebastian Bach, a composer he venerated. The collection contains five of the Bachianas Brasileiras, including the most famous, written for soprano and eight cellos, which features the delectably floating tones of Victoria de los Angeles.
