Notes & Reviews:
A person of intense humility, shyness and introspection, the music of Galina Ustvolskaya (1919-2006) is the opposite: dramatic, often aggressive, with pounding rhythms that make it totally unique. Russian pianist Natalia Andreeva has taken special interest in the work of Ustvolskaya, beginning her 'life-project' in Chicago in 2006, and her PH.D thesis in Piano Performance was based on the interpretation of Ustvolskaya's music. This recording contains Galina Ustvolskaya's entire output for solo piano. Ms. Andreeva is Lecturer in Piano at Sydney Conservatorium, Australia.
