Notes & Reviews:

This latest release to come from the world's leading lutenist Rolf Lislevand falls in a line of several striking previous albums recorded for Naïve, such as Murcia's Codex, Alfabeto or Vivaldi's music for mandolin and lute. His new recording features a very specific repertoire, works for guitar and basso ostinato written in 17th c. Italy. Mr. Lislevand and fellow musicians, all playing plectrum-struck string instruments, base their music and improvisations on the inspiration provided by Carbonchi, Corbetta, Granata, Pellegrini or traditional music of an anonymous nature.

The Independent, 4th July 2015
It's the delightful melody of Carbonchi's "Calata per Cantare", from strummed intro to a mesmeric braiding of runs and counterpoints, that's most memorable here.

MusicWeb International, September 2015
If you enjoy the magic of multiple plucked strings then this will be your kind of recording. It's the kind of thing which can provide a sprinkling of genius to the soundtrack of your life, and can be an immersive transport of delight to take you far away from the daily grind if you let it soak in properly.
