Chelsea: Evacuate

Album Notes

After the peculiar experiments of their second album, ALTERNATIVE HITS (also known as NO ESCAPE), 1981's EVACUATE sets Chelsea on the course they would maintain for the rest of their career. Less manic than their early records, the 10 tracks on EVACUATE are sharp-edged rock & roll with a few punky touches, rather than full-on punk rock.

The new lineup, no longer featuring guitarist Tony James (who would go on to form the controversial Sigue Sigue Sputnik) turns songs like the stomping title track and "Tribal Song" into riff-heavy rough-edged tough-sounding rock & roll as suitable for fans of AC/DC as the Clash. This reissue includes eight bonus tracks, including the superior single versions of "War Across the Nation" and "How Do You Know," along with their respective B-sides.
