Notes & Reviews:
The Kamus Quartet was founded in Helsinki in 2002 while the members were all studying at the prestigious Sibelius Academy. In just three years, the quartet had won third prize at the Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition, including the prize for best performance of the compulsory work. From their inception the aim of the Quartet has been to offer concerts with a versatile range of repertoire. They've given concerts at the largest festivals in Finland, and have performed in all of the major European cities. On the present release, Different Voices, the group presents string quartets by Jean Sibelius, Jouni Kaipainen, and Jukka Tiensuu. The Kaipainen and Tiensuu works are receiving here their world premiere recordings.
