American composer Theodore Shapiro (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Dinner for Schmucks) provides the score for Trumbo, a biopic about Academy Award-winning screenwriter and novelist Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted in Hollywood after refusing to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1947. Consisting mostly of atmospheric, piano-centered passages ("A Letter from Prison," "So I Rage") or quietly tense strings ("Eddie Names Names," "No Bullies"), the score also offers frantic or elegant, small-combo or orchestral jazz ("A Script for the Kings," "Curriculum Vitae"). Including the TV movie Game Change, Trumbo [Original Soundtrack] marks Shapiro's fourth collaboration with director Jay Roach. ~ Marcy Donelson
