Notes & Reviews:

This new box set (7 CDs) takes the best from the two Dutilleux boxes we already released, adding recordings from the very recent Dutilleux album made by Paavo Jarvi and released earlier this year, Correspondances by Barbara Hannigan and Esa-Pekka Salonen and Le Temps l'horloge by Renee Fleming and Seiji Ozawa. These recordings were made between 1954 and 2013.

Henri Dutilleux (1916-2913) is one of the most important composers of the second half of the 20th century and certainly the main French modernist composer. He was a non-prolific composer but each new creation was an event and a landmark in the contemporary works. He was very much appreciated by some of the greatest artists: Rostropovich of course, Anne Sophie Mutter, Seiji Ozawa, Paul Sacher, Charles Munch and Isaac Stern.

BBC Music Magazine, June 2016
The performances here are uniformly excellent, while some must be taken as definitive - not in the sense of saying the last word... rather in indicating directions of travel.
