Notes & Reviews:

The Dutch ensemble, Lendvai String Trio release the third disc in a series of the complete String Trios by the seldom recorded Dutch Romantic composer Julius Rontgen. A distinctive feature of Rontgen's work are the many musical references to traditional Dutch tunes and dances, his interest in folk music inspired by his friendship with Edvard Grieg and Grieg's quest in his own Norway to build a repertoire that was inclusive of the folkloric music styles. The Lendvai String Trio explore the intersections of the folkloric and classical to lively and piquant ends with their performances.
