Notes & Reviews:

This fitting tribute to legendary conductor Rafael Kubelik features performances of Mahler's Das Klagende Lied, Brahms's Rhapsodie Op.53 and excerpts from Schoenberg's monumental Gurre Lieder. He leads the Symphonie-Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in performances that proved him to be a worthy successor to Furtwangler, Walter and Kleiber. "For me it is important to express something new every night... tearing myself apart in fact - to give something each time and not take. Taking is not worthy of a musician." -Rafael Kubelik
