Notes & Reviews:

Russian conductor Yevgeny Mravinsky stayed in his homeland but remained impervious to any authoritative decrees - political or artistic. Leading the Leningrad Philharmonic, he dared to present in a single evening Stravinsky's Petruska and The Fairy's Kiss. Both works remain essential to the ballet repertoire and this impressive interpretation evokes a time when this music was new.
