American Record Guide, May/June 2016
This is a collection of 20th and 21st Century pieces for flute, piccolo, piano, or two flutes by Israeli composers, some born in Europe or Africa. All of these selections can be best described as traditional, neoclassical, and tonal. The program includes two sonatas, one by Erwin Schulhoff, practically a familiar piece as it has gained popularity over the past 20 years, and the other by Theodore Holdheim (1923- 85). There are also three sizeable works that use piccolo. Rotem Luz (b 1959) writes a piece that is quite moving from simple materials. You might get this collection.
