Notes & Reviews:

This is the Delos debut from American coloratura soprano Laura Claycomb, best known for her work in opera, Open Your Heart and here exploring a more intimate interpretive approach featuring an assortment of art songs accompanied by guitar maestro Marc Teicholz. The duo traverses through compositions that range wonderfully from the famously pro-union lyricist-composer Marc Blitzstein, to William Walton through treatments of French texts by Georges Bizet, Claude Debussy to Spanish and Portuguese settings by Manuel de Falla and Heitor Villa-Lobos and more.

American Record Guide, March/April 2016
This program of music for guitar and voice has some interesting moments. The pieces originally written for guitar and voice - the Four French Folk Songs by Hungarian composer Matyas Gyorgy Seiber (1905-60), the Villa-Lobos 'Modinha' and the aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, and the cycle Anon in Love, written by William Walton for Peter Pears and Julian Bream - work nicely. Teicholz plays with sensitivity and Claycomb has a nice voice.

The 'Mandolin' is acceptable. Some of the Falla songs are OK.
