Notes & Reviews:

In the 3rd volume of the overview of Viktor Stepanovych Kosenko's (1896-1938) piano music, Natalya Shkoda continues in her mission to unveil the music of this Ukrainian pianist and composer with Eleven Etudes for Piano, Op. 8 and Twenty-Four Children's Pieces, both receiving their premiere recordings. Gramaphone magazine has said of this series: "Bravo to Shkoda for putting her accomplished playing at the service of this music".

American Record Guide, May/June 2016
I would consider this indispensible to any piano teacher simply to expose them to almost unknown repertoire that would be immediately useful. The Etudes are certainly not child's play and remind me of Scriabin's Etudes, Op. 8, though they are not as difficult. Kosenoko's second etude in B-flat minor is subtitled 'Melancholic Etude' and closely resembles Scriabin's Op. 8:11 in the same key. I am grateful to Shkoda for bringing this music to my attention in such fine performances, with good piano sound and an excellent booklet essay.
