Notes & Reviews:

The West Texas-based Harrington String Quartet, established in 1981, currently in-residence as string faculty at West Texas A&M University, and on the heels of their last release Northern Lights, their collaborative recording with the Phoenix Chorale which waslauded by many as being one of the best classical albums of 2012 delve into the intricacies of Mendelssohn's string quintets featuring guest violist James Dunham and close out this strong release with the Capriccio for String Quartet, Op. 81.

American Record Guide, May/June 2016
This is a wonderfully relaxing recording. Imagine you're a string player, and you've invited friends over to the house to play chamber music. A glass or two of wine, and we pull out some Mendelssohn. This recording documents the way the music would sound (at least in my imagination). Tempos are very relaxed, the string sound is warm and gorgeous, players yield to each other in cooperative, musical fashion, and the world seems a better place. In short this is a great recording if you value warmth and sweetness in Mendelssohn. Congratulations to the Harrington, a group new to me. They are, by the way, in residence at West Texas A&M University.
