Ensemble Composers

Notes & Reviews:

The contemporary and improvisational Norwegian chamber vocal ensemble and quintet Song Circus, led by Liv Runesdatter are known to European audiences for their performances that incorporate a fascinating vocabulary of sound combined with rare musical precision. This collection, Anatomy of Sound is but an aspect of a multimedia presentation projected to incorporate recordings along with immersive websites and projected to eventually include eight projects and fifteen composers by the cycle's end in 2018. For this first collection from this crucible of the voice, Song Circus highlights the fecundity of the emerging generation of Norwegian composers: Ruben Sverre Gjertsen with the intricate Landscape with Figures and Ole-Henrik Moe's piece for voices and wine glasses Persefone.
