Notes & Reviews:

World-renowned mezzo-soprano Alice Coote joins forces with leading pianist Christian Blackshaw for a heartfelt exploration of the human soul in love. Coote's sensitive and transfixing interpretation of the texts, coupled with Blackshaw's intense and elegant musical expression, bring unique insights to this sublime collection of Lieder.

From the passion of 'Widmung', 'Du bist wie eine Blume' and 'Die Lotusblume', to that jewels of the Lieder repertoire Frauenliebe und - leben and Dichterliebe, these kaleidoscopic explorations of love are captured live in recital at Wigmore Hall.

BBC Music Magazine, April 2016
Coote and Blackshaw eloquently search out the cycle's paradoxes.

Gramophone Magazine, March 2016
Coote's approach to both characters is less defined by role-playing than it is by deep feeling and slow-burning intensity...Of the two cycles it is Coote's Frauenliebe that is the more persuasively dramatic, belying the work's Biedermeier hausfrau image. There is nothing cosy or domestic about what Coote does with the material.
