Notes & Reviews:

English composer Philip Wood (b. 1972) has been greatly influenced by the compositional style of Britten, as well as the modern British lyrical writers Vaughan Williams, Holst, and Rawsthorne to name a few. Containing vocal and chamber works by Philip Wood, Sonnets, Airs and Dances features pieces of intense lyricism. World-renowned countertenor James Bowman and acclaimed soprano Lesley-Jane Rogers are the featured vocalists on this recording. John Turner is featured on the recorder, alongside cellists Heather Bills, Jonathan Price, and harpsichordist Harvey Davies.
