Having won fame as a great Beethoven interpreter, Claudio Arrau is no less celebrated for his Mozart, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Debussy and Brahms. His connection with Rafael Kubelík was particularly deep. This recording features Kubelík leading the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Brahms's Piano Concerto No.1. Also included is the solo Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op.24.
