Notes & Reviews:

Brahms had an extraordinary skill for taking classical forms to new heights. Some twenty years separate the Cello Sonata No.1 from Cello Sonatas Nos.2 and 3. All three are performed here by the Russian duo of cellist Alexander Kniazev and pianist Andrei Korobeinikov. These works remain perfect examples of the composer's ability to resolve the textural problems raised when combining two instruments.

Notes & Reviews:

Personnel: Christian Rabus (piano).

Recording information: Au Studio 2 de la Bayerischer Rundfunk à Munich (10/2014).
