Notes & Reviews:

One of the most successful composers of his day, Baldassare Galuppi (1706-1785) was an extremely multifaceted composer. While he covered every genre from sacred music to concertos to chamber music and solo works, his greatest success was opera. His pioneering of the Opera Buffa launched him into stardom. Galuppi's compositions outline the transition from the Baroque to the Classical Era. His Sonatas range in style and transition from simple keyboard scoring to extremely technical passages. Andrea Chezzi is a magnificent Italian harpsichordist and scholar. His deep understanding of the repertoire allows his talent to shine through alongside historically appropriate practices.
