Notes & Reviews:

At only seventeen years old, organist Sebastian Heindl presents for us his new transcription of Paul Dukas's ballet, La Pri, in honor of the 150th birthday anniversary of the impressionist French composer. In this transcription, Heindl displays the ways in which three of the composer's students interpreted and developed further their master's understanding of music. All were organists- Jehan Alain, Oliver Messiaen, and Maurice Durufl. The performance displays, rather than an abrupt stylistic change from romanticism to modernism, a steady metamorphosis across the teacher-student generations. Heindl received his musical instruction as a member of the Leipzig Thomanerchor. He has won several awards, including the Jugend musiziert competitions in 2012 and 2015.
