Notes & Reviews:

This recording of works by Carl Heinrich Carsten Reinecke (1824-1910) documents the only two orchestral works with soloist flute, which were composed by Reinecke when he was more than 80 years old. The pieces here represent a true example of late romanticism, characterized by the revisiting of traditional forms, with demanding orchestrations and beautiful melodies. Rounding out this album is the Serenade for strings op. 242, which was published ten years before his flute works. Italian flutist Mario Carbotta is the featured performer on this album.
