Notes & Reviews:
The music on this album derives from two sources. One of these is the great deal of music for guitar and other instruments that composer Herbert Vasquez wrote over the course of his career. The other is the result of his professional relationship with Japanese guitarist Norio Sato as well as the members of Nomad Ensemble. Vazquez traveled to Japan on several occasions, giving him a window into the culture and art of the country. He wrote, "My way of perceiving the world has been enriched by Hokusai, Hiroshige, Basho, Issa, Buson, and with the sounds of the biwa, the sakuhachi and koto." The pieces on this album testify to his experiences in Japan. Norio Sato conducts Ensemble Nomad on this recording.
