Notes & Reviews:

Balli e Balletti includes music written for Monteverdi's opera Orfeo. The ballo e baletto were favorite forms of 17th century Italy. They combined signing and dancing and often served as intermezzi in full-length operas. The singers include the tenor Anthony Rolfe-Johnson, celebrated in Monteverdi. The album includes music from Dido and Aeneas, Come, ye sons of art and The Indian Queen.
