Notes & Reviews:

In 2012, Thomas Zehetmair was appointed the Orchestre de Chambre's principal conductor and artistic advisor and on this recording does double duty as both soloist and conductor, revealing how urgent and convincing Robert Schumann's music can be when the performers enter into its spirit. This insightful approach has already been demonstrated - his Quartet's recording of two Schumann string quartets won prizes including the 2003 Gramophone Award as Album of the Year.

The Guardian, 24th March 2016
Zehetmair is both soloist and conductor, and what's fascinating is how he tells one story with his violin - passionate and resolute - while letting the orchestra hint at darker things...the Paris strings get a bit scraggly, but overall the playing is alert and light on its feet.

Sunday Times, 29th March 2016
Zehetmair, returning to Schumann's original version, largely puts to rest the doubts that have dogged the work since its 1937 "rediscovery".

BBC Music Magazine, September 2016
Thomas Zehetmair coaxes his French players to produce warmly nuanced playing in this spirited account of the Spring Symphony... the orchestra works absolutely in tandem with the superb Zehetmair whose interpretation of the Concerto's heart-rending slow movement is particularly moving.
