Notes & Reviews:
The Originals Series offers listeners the opportunity to explore key albums from the Yellow Label's LP era and experience the power and passion of performances by a host of visionary artists. Now DG welcomes ten new titles to the range, including Claudio Abbado's acclaimed 1981 recording of Berlioz's monumental Te Deum: an album that still leads the field 35 years later. Sung text and translation are included in the booklet.
Musical Times, April 1983
This is such a splendid record that few words are needed to exalt it and fewer still to carp. Abbado's sense of phrasing and timing is exemplary and he draws wonderfully committed singing from all his choirs.
Recording information: St. Albans Cathedral, Hertfordshire (08/1981).
