Notes & Reviews:

In this wonderful solo album, Norwegian early music performer Rolf Lislevand turns his attention to two C17 composers from the court of Louis XIV: Robert de Visée and the Italian-born Francesco Corbetta, and plays their masterpieces with historical awareness and an inventiveness which belongs to the tradition. He uses two contrasting instruments here, the small Baroque guitar with its sparkling, crystal-clear sonorities and the theorbo, the dark-toned and earthy king of the lutes.

Gramophone Magazine, August 2016
It takes a performer of the calibre of Baroque guitarist and theorbo player Rolf Lislevand fully to realise the synecdochal power of their music for modern ears... the effect is hypnotic, dazzling and even dizzying as Lislevand conjures up lost châteaux, parterres and the intrigues that took place therein through the merest flick of the right-and wrist or finely judged fall of a left-hand finger.
