Notes & Reviews:

Simon Trpceski has established himself as one of the most remarkable musicians to have emerged in recent years, performing with many of the world's greatest orchestras and captivating audiences worldwide. He performs a stunning program, recorded live at Wigmore Hall, opening with Brahms's melancholic 3 Intermezzi, 'the cradle songs of my sufferings' as the composer once called them, a charming and varied selection showcasing Trpceski's sensitivity and delicate expression.

Ravel's eclectic Valses nobles et sentimentales, a dissonant and passionate chain of lilting dances, lie at the heart of this album. The performance concludes with the thrilling Toccata from Poulenc's Trois pieces, a brilliant demonstration of Trpceski's colorful and virtuosic playing.

Unlike so many collections of piano works on CD, Wigmore Hall's live recordings are proper recitals, meticulously planned to offer that satisfying arc of emotion that marks out an outstanding concert. Here, the wondrously talented Macedonian pianist Simon Trpceski opens daringly with Brahms's wistful Intermezzo, Op117, before a dazzlingly reading of the Op24 Variation and Fugue on a theme by Handel. Then the totally different soundworld of Ravel's Valsesnobles et sentimentales bursts forth in all its dizzying glamour, before a selection of Poulenc's charming Novelettes and Improvisations brings this masterly recital to a classy close. A disc to savor. Highly recommended.

This recital, recorded at Wigmore Hall on July 19, 2014, attests the most beautiful playing. The first of Brahms's Three Intermezzi, Op 117, is immediate evidence of a bloom of a touch, and the second opens into rare poetry...Nothing is hammered out.

Gramophone Magazine, June 2016
Trpceski brings a cheerful nonchalance to the ingratiating first Novelette, while the relaxed, slightly louche first Improvisation conjures up a chic cocktail lounge. He clearly revels in the concluding Toccata, the most pianistically resourceful of the lot, with its sly winks in the direction of Prokofiev. The overall impression is of freshness and wit, leaving one to ponder why we don't hear this music more often.
