Notes & Reviews:

Paganini's Caprice No.24 was written as a showcase for the composer's own prodigious talents. It inspired many other composers to write variations on its theme. Featured here are a selection of masterpieces based on Paganini's famous theme - for solo piano by Liszt and Brahms, for violin and piano by Szymanowski, for piano and orchestra by Lutoslawski and Rachmaninov and for symphony orchestra by Blacher. Artists include violinist Michael Rabin and pianist Artur Rubinstein.
