Notes & Reviews:

The music of renowned Chinese composer Guan Xia has been received with acclaim in Moscow, Vienna, Tokyo and New York and he featured recently on a list of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles as one of 'One Hundred Outstanding Contemporary Artists'. Earth Requiem, the first Chinese-language requiem, commemorates the devastating 2008 Sichuan earthquake and its first movement is performed here in an orchestral version. Symphony No.2 "Hope" offers a vision of the life force, and hope for the future in music of breadth and increasing warmth. Heroic drama animates the vividly scored Overture No.1.
