Notes & Reviews:

This recording features music for harmonium that a Parisian might hear on a typical Sunday in the mid 19th century---at the church (with choir) and at a salon concert in the evening. The program includes many works heard on recording for the first time with original instrumentation --- works by Franck, Saint-Sans, Gounod, Berlioz, Lemmens, Dubois and Lefbure-Wely. The Christ Church Schola Cantorum (Rochester, NY) directed by Stephen Kennedy joins harmonium virtuoso Joris Verdin to recreate an important musical soundscape of 19th century France.
