Album Remarks & Appraisals:
The newest addition to ECM's Old and New Masters Series is a 4-CD set reprising the albums made by Peter Erskine's trio between 1992 and 1997. The recordings provide an excellent environment for appreciating the distinctive writing and playing of the late, great British pianist John Taylor who was the trio's primary composer. Of his trio mates Erskine says, "We drew out our most explorative and interesting playing from each other. Without trying to be, we were a truly unique group."
Personnel: John Taylor (piano); Palle Danielsson (double bass); Peter Erskine (drums).
Liner Note Author: John Kelman .
Recording information: Rainbow Studio 1, Oslo (1992-07-??_1993-11-??_1995-).
