Notes & Reviews:

The Boy's Choir of the Chorakademie Dortmund is stylistically perfect in this recording. Their sound is ideal for the revered baroque castrati literature, and the small setting allows these works to be recorded in a light fashion. Director Jost Salm is deeply committed to individually training the boys in his choir. He has been artistic director of the Chorakademie Dortmund since 2006. Pergolesi's Stabat Mater was composed during the final weeks of the composer's life. The twelve movement work is largely based on Pergolesi's earlier setting of the Dies Irae.
