Notes & Reviews:

Inspired by their namesake, 13th century poet and mystic Jalal al-din Rumi, duoJalal (Kathryn Lockwood, viola and Yousif Sheronick, percussion) present an original new recording that bridges cultural and musical genres. The music on this hypnotically beautiful disc includes two commissioned works from duoJalal's "Rumi Experience" project, and comprises music from Japan, Indonesia, Mongolia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. duoJalal has selected a Rumi poem to pair with each piece of music, with the poems (in English translation) printed in the CD liner notes.
