British glam-rockers Smokey, part of the Chinnichap stable of bubblegum idols, got serious on this 1975 sophomore release, adding strings, spine-tingling vocal harmonies, and a mellower, more acoustic-based sound. Still possessed of the raucous energy of their earlier work, the album nevertheless was a bid for critical acclaim. While it didn't do well in the States, the album and several of its singles charted in the band's home country, and they became popular enough to inspire a lawsuit from Smokey Robinson Jr., who forced them to change their name to Smokie to avoid confusion.
