Album Notes

Liner Note Author: Paul Howes.

Photographer: Byron Motley.

This release combines two '70s-specific anthologies originally issued in 2013 by the Real Gone label: The Complete Warner Bros. Singles and We Need to Go Back: The Unissued Warner Bros. Masters. It's a straightforward bundling. The discs are in their original packaging, wonderfully detailed liner notes and all, slid into a sturdy cardboard shell. The singles compilation is the real draw, of course, containing "Once You Hit the Road," Warwick's lone Top Five R&B hit for Warner, plus additional charting A-sides like "(I'm) Just Being Myself" and some deeper gems, exemplified by the spectacular "You're Gonna Need Me." The disc of shelved tracks will enlighten Warwick fanatics and few others. ~ Andy Kellman
