Notes & Reviews:
This charming program contains early romantic cello sonatas by Moscheles, Ries, and Hummel, performed by cello virtuoso, Marco Testori. All three composers featured on this release were composing during the same time- the period of transition from the Classical to the Romantic style. All three of these composers were influenced by Ludwig van Beethoven. These cello sonatas follow the classical rules, but are spiced with romantic outpourings of emotion and drama. Marco Testori performs here on a period instrument, as does his partner Constantino Mastroprimiano, who plays on an early 19th century fortepiano.
