Notes & Reviews:

Maria Yudina was famous in the 20th century for standing up to Stalin. However, it is often forgotten that she was a consummate player of Bach, Beethoven and the "decadent" contemporary composers that were banned from the Soviet stage, such as Bartók, Berg and Stravinsky. This tribute disc featuring Beethoven's Eroica Variations, Berg's Piano Sonata, Bartók's Mikrokosmos and Stravinsky's Serenade displays Yudina's talents to the fullest.
