Brahms: Hungarian Dances, WoO 1; Klavierstucke, Op. 76; Waltes, Op. 39 / Cédric Tiberghien, piano

Notes & Reviews:

The product of a close study of Gypsy folklore, the Hungarian Dances were originally written for piano four hands. They were subsequently orchestrated, but Brahms himself also made a reduction for piano solo. CÚdric Tiberghien performs them alongside the 8 Piano Pieces Op.76, and the 16 Waltzes Op.39, which offer a highly personal vision of the genre, in the tradition of Schubert and Schumann.
