Notes & Reviews:

Rubbra's Eighth Symphony is commonly regarded as an orchestral masterpiece and one of his finest symphonies. It is fitting that this series from Richard Hickox and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales be brought to a close with this rousing finale. The disc also offers the world premiere recording of the short occasional work "Ode to the Queen" written to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
