Notes & Reviews:

Kuhlau's reverence for and friendship with Beethoven informed much of his music. His C major Piano Concerto is closely modelled on Beethoven's (try Michael Ponti's superb recording if you can track it down)(Gramophone). These highly acclaimed recordings make an ideal introduction to Kuhlau one of the best composers not to have become well known.

Penguin Guide (3 stars)
Overture is Kulau's best-known work... Maga gets pleasing results... very good performances.

Gramophone
Denmark was his country of adoption... Maga plays with zest... Concertino for two horns is a 'serious divertimento', as Antony Hodgson describes it... (horns) are first rate, while Michael Ponti is admirable in the notable Piano Concerto.
