Hindemith: Harmonie der Welt, Pittsburgh Symphony / Kegel

Album Summary

>Hindemith, Paul : Symphony, "Die Harmonie der Welt" (The Music of the Spheres)
>Hindemith, Paul : Pittsburgh Symphony, for orchestra
Conductor Ensemble Composer

Notes & Reviews:

"Die Harmonie der Welt" is an overtly mystical work dramatizing the attempts of the Renaissance astronomer Kepler to discover the harmony of the planets. Hindemith's own musical tastes and beliefs led him to develop his own harmonic system, which he exploited to the fullest in this piece. His "Pittsburgh Symphony", one of his last works, was written for the 200th anniversary celebration of the founding of the city of Pittsburgh.
